Increase profit by reducing tolerations

Posted: November 16, 2017 | Categories: Leadership, Management, Time management

If you are like most of us, when you look at your personal life, there are a few things in the “toleration” category.  Here are some examples:

This list can get pretty long.  Let’s face it, there are some tolerations we just never get around to attending to.

There are also tolerations in business.  Some of these are:

The challenge is, business tolerations cost us money.  If we want operate at the highest profit, we need to have a daily plan to systematically attack our list of tolerations.  Here are the steps involved:

  1. Talk to your team about all the current tolerations.
  2. Rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 regarding their importance.
  3. Decide where to start
  4. Get everyone involved with specific action that is time-bound
  5. Commit to Single Daily Action. That means do something each day to attack the toleration list.

This sounds simple.  It is simple.  It is not easy.  There are four approaches to tolerations:

  1.  Don’t pay attention to them, and keep on losing money.
  2. Identify them but never get around to doing anything about it.
  3. Identify them, start to work on them, then fizzle out.
  4. Identify them, start to work on them and commit to doing something every day that   moves you forward.

Which method makes you the most money?  If you guessed #4, you are right!
